“When stockbrokers Julie Pellatt, Paula Chiungos, and Katherine Robinson began planning to leave the Boston office of Kidder Peabody & Co. and start their own nanny business, colleagues scoffed. 'Nannies, who needs Nannies?' That was in the fall of 1987. That October, the stock market crashed and many of their fellow brokers were jobless.

“But Beacon Hill Nannies, Inc. has flourished on more than luck. They have built a thriving business by catering to the same well-heeled client base they served as stockbrokers. Beacon Hill nannies are all upscale – young, college-educated women. They like to think of their their nannies as 'role models' to children of the professional class. Most of them stay two or three years before going on to careers in teaching or other professions.

“Clients are encouraged to be choosy. Each customer screens videotaped interviews of up to a dozen aspiring nannies before meeting candidates. And if a nanny doesn't work out, within the first year the company will replace her for no additional fee.”

Katherine Leary Robinson, President
Katherine co-founded Beacon Hill Nannies in 1988 with the goal of providing the highest quality of childcare and placement counseling for nannies and families. Since then, Beacon Hill Nannies, Inc. has placed thousands of nannies with successful professionals nationwide over the past twenty years. She has placed nanny/governesses with over half of the Fortune 400 families. Prior to founding Beacon Hill Nannies, Inc. Katherine was a Vice President at Kidder, Peabody & Co. in Boston, MA. Katherine holds a BA in Economics from the College of the Holy Cross. She has been fortunate to have employed three outstanding Beacon Hill Nannies over eight years.
Sarah A. Hayes, Director of Placement
Sarah works with our families in helping families chose from the best pool candidates appropriate for their unique needs. She continues to assist families if needed throughout the placement. Sarah came to Beacon Hill Nannies with a strong sensitivity to the needs of families having worked as a counselor for the past five years with children and families. Sarah graduated from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and is working towards completing a Masters of Education from Cambridge College in Counseling Psychology.
Lauren J. Olson, Director of Recruitment
As the Director of Recruitment, Lauren searches nationwide and evaluates potential nanny candidates, and plays an important role in the extensive interviewing process. Once a placement has been made, it is her job to follow up with the nanny on his/her remaining requirements. Lauren’s own childcare experience has enabled her to assess the quality of experience each applicant has to offer. She enjoys working with the diverse group of clientele that BHN serves. She is a graduate of Salem State College where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
Meryl (Kissy) Diamond, Director of Candidate Screening
As the Director of Candidate Screening, Meryl interviews all former employers of Beacon Hill Nanny candidates worldwide. Meryl truly enjoys the interesting and informative interactions she experiences speaking with many different people every day. Meryl graduated from Roger Williams University as a Creative Writing major with a minor in Marketing. She has many years of experience working with children, including positions as a Camp Counselor and an elementary classroom Assistant Teacher. In addition, she has experience in administrative roles, having held positions as both a Marketing Assistant and an Accounting Assistant.
Tracy R. Buckley, Payroll Administrator
Tracy joined Beacon Hill Nannies in January 2004. She comes to our agency with over 7 years of corporate sales and marketing experience. Tracy is the Payroll Administrator for our Easy Manage Payroll Service. She has a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Vermont and an MS in Elementary Education from SUNY Cortland.
Cecilia Hensel, Candidate Screening
Cecilia has worked for Beacon Hill Nannies for over seven years. She is a former educator and has experience working with young children through high school students. In addition to working with children of all ages, Cecilia has over 10 years of experience as a recruiter, screening job candidates and assisting in their professional placement. She has an MBA in Marketing from Babson College, and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Boston College.
