| The
Nanny Placement Process
1. Overview Of Professional Nanny Placement
Service
Upon receiving your complete application,
our Director of Recruitment will be contacting you to discuss your
options and the minimum requirements. If everything goes well, we’ll
be scheduling an interview, in person or by telephone. After the
interview, we’ll be checking your references before we send
your file out to our families. Those parents who are interested
in interviewing you will contact you directly. You’ll do an
initial contact call, and probably a longer telephone interview,
before a family might invite you to come to their home for a final
interview/ personal visit. (Yes, families typically pay for your
travel expenses to the working interview where necessary.) We encourage
families and candidates to spend some time together prior to placement
to facilitate a thorough and confident decision by both parties.
If you and the family are in agreement, a contract will be drafted
between you and that family, nailing down the specific job description
and compensation package. There will be some additional requirements
that you must complete once you have accepted a position (Criminal
and Driving Background Checks, First Aid, CPR, Health Report, Psychological-Personality
Profile, & Nanny Training Seminar). Then you’ll be ready
to start your new job!

2. Minimum Job Standards
Although each position is unique, families are required to meet
the following minimum conditions for placement:
• Separate bedroom and separate bathroom for the live-in
nanny
• Use of the family car is made available to the nanny,
for live-ins; live-outs generally use their own car and are compensated
based on how much they use their car with the children
• 2 weeks paid vacation, (or other arrangements can be negotiated)
• 2 consecutive days off (typically weekend=Friday night
through Sunday)
• Minimum of 5 of the major federal holidays will be given,
except as provided through special arrangement between with family
and the candidate
• Meals will be provided (or a food allowance given) for
live-ins
• Only domestic duties related to the care of the children
will be required, but no extensive housekeeping will be required
• Compensation is based on an approximately 50-60 hours/week
for live-ins (nationwide); live-outs are 40-50 hours/week (Boston metro area only)
• Any additional hours and fees can be negotiated with the
family

3. A Bit About Salary For
Nanny Placement Service
Beacon Hill Nannies, Inc. is a nationally renowned nanny agency
working with the nation’s premier families. We can offer positions
commanding the highest nanny salaries in the country; all salaries
offered will reflect the nannies education and
depth of experience. Top candidates can earn $1000 per week, but
most jobs start between $500-$700 per week. |
4. Can We Help You In Your Search
We have two types of jobs, live-in and live-out jobs. We do live-out
jobs in the Boston metro area only, and to be eligible for these
jobs you must be living in this area already or have specific plans
for where you will live when you come here. We have live-in jobs
nationwide, but predominantly on the east coast in the suburbs of
the major metropolitan areas, like NYC, Philadelphia, Washington
DC, and Boston. Those live-in jobs are required to offer a separate
bedroom and separate bathroom for the nanny at a minimum. However,
some of those families have more privacy to offer the nannies:
third floor private suite, basement walk-out apartment, and sometimes
a separate cottage or suite above the garage. Those jobs tend to
go to our career nannies and are much sought after
and competitive to acquire. In all cases, accommodations provided
are for the nanny alone… no boyfriends, husbands, children,
or pets would be allowed.
Our minimum requirements for all nanny jobs are as follows:
• must be 20 yrs. old,
• 3 recent, professional, full-time child
care experiences,
• current valid US driver’s license,
• high school diploma or the equivalent, for Au Pair candidates
• BA/BS degree or a minimum of 5 years experience, for Nanny
candidates
• ability to make a 12 month commitment with a family
• non-smoker
• competent swimmer
• fluency with the English language
• legal right to work in this country without limits (ie.
American citizenship or permanent resident status/greencard)
By “professional experiences”, we mean
several things and are looking for more than just casual babysitting
references. Long term relationships, professional settings, non-family
supervisors, and more than 30 hours per week are obviously more
desirable. Teaching, camp counseling, nannying, tutoring, lifeguarding,
and coaching are some examples, but in no way would be a compete
list, of the types of experiences we consider professional. Relevant
experiences should be fairly current and verifiable, at least within
the past 5 years.
We are not a sponsorship program and cannot help you
acquire a work permit or work visa. We are legally restricted from
placing candidates that do not already possess the legal right to
work in this country, and would be subject to heavy fines ($10,000+)
if we did.
I’m sorry, but we cannot help you unless you
meet all of these requirements. If you still have questions, please
click over to the “Quick Question” page here on our
website and submit your question there.
